What the quiz covers

What you'll get from your Garden Readiness Score

Answer honestly and you'll get a short summary of where you are right now and what to do next.

01
Design Direction
These questions challenge you to think about what you really want. Like free therapy  minus the chaise longue.
02
Investment Clarity
The British instinct is to not talk about money until it's awkward. This will warn you if you're trying to buy Savile Row on a Primark budget.
03
Project Readiness
"I left a note on the fridge, did you not see it?" is not a project alignment strategy.

I'm Joe. I don't have a design degree. What I have is seven years on site with 30+ of the UK's top designers across 100+ builds including Chelsea and Hampton Court gold medal show gardens and a background in luxury event production for luxury brands such as Hermès, Cartier, Claridge's and Rolls-Royce, transforming spaces to tell stories that people couldn't forget.

I got into this the hard way. My first wife died at thirty three. Our daughter was ten. We went straight into COVID lockdown with no support network,  just a garden I'd never cared about and nowhere else to go. That garden held us together. It taught me that outdoor space isn't just an afterthought.

I retrained. Spent years working with the best designers in the country and watching the same safe design get repurposed over and over. I had one question: why can't a garden tell a story the way a great installation does, but be permanent?

That's what Hide Unhide builds. Gardens designed to be moved through, not just looked at. Spaces with waypoints, rooms and a narrative thread. Something that draws you forward, changes as you move and rewards discovery. You'll never see it all from one place. That's not an accident. That's the design.

Who this is for
This is for you
For people who collect experiences, not just things. Who've commissioned something bespoke before and understand why it was worth it. Who've stood in a great hotel, a gallery, a thoughtfully designed space and felt something.

This is for people who've spent enough on this house to know exactly how much a bad decision costs. The kind of person who delegates everything that matters and wants to be certain before they start, not sorry once they've finished.
This isn't for everyone
If you've got a Pinterest board, a borrowed cement mixer and a dream — we salute you. Genuinely. But we're probably not your people.

This also isn't for anyone managing contractors on weekends, briefing builders on the back of an envelope, or whose current garden centrepiece is a ceramic gnome they've named Gerald. No hard feelings. Gerald will be fine without us. Probably.

The work

Three active projects. A 14-zone estate garden in Surrey. A 300m² garden in West London, completed. A third in planning. We design everything to be built from the start. What you approve isn't a vision. It's an instruction. The full story isn't on this page. It starts with the quiz.

Ready?

Congratulations. You've spent three minutes reading about fixing your garden instead of actually fixing it.

The quiz is also three minutes. Just saying.
